Marist Racist Dance? / 'Cane Guy'/ Konkol /Capone's 'Sweetheart'

It's Tuesday! The wind will be blowing out at Sox Park for Game 4 of the American League Division Series.

( )

I spotted a double rainbow on the South Side just after storms responsible for washing out Monday’s White Sox game subsided. Then, I got a call from my cousin, Taters, who scored us seats to Game 4 at Sox Park today. Good omens are everywhere. Let's go, Sox!

  • Sox fans dominated the news thanks to the playoff-delaying storm. I caught up with a Sox fan who made good on a Twitter promise to the baseball gods in the 3rd inning of Game 3. If Leury Garcia hits a home run, I'll get a tattoo in his honor, Gilbert Redman wrote. The rest is history — permanently etched into the Simeon High School teacher assistant's thigh.

  • The "Cane Guy" had a chat with every news station in town, and then some. White Sox season ticket holder Rob Holt, a lifelong fan, went viral after TV cameras caught him using his walking stick like Gandalf's staff to brew up some Sox-friendly sorcery during Game 3. The White Sox invited him back for Game 4. (CBS Sports)
  • I generally avoid Cubs fans like the coronavirus. Unless, that is, they're jumping on the White Sox bandwagon. That's why I'm firmly on Team John Cusack. Some guy from Barstool Sports got too much attention for a TMZ-style paparazzi video of himself going after Cusack, a documented Cubs fan, for rooting for the Sox. I say, you're welcome on the South Side, Lloyd Dobbler. This is the way! (Newsweek)
  • Maybe Chicagoans should blame Texas for last month's shootout near the West Loop. Investigators say one of the vehicles involved in the Sept. 29 rolling gun battle is connected to a rental car fraud ring in Dallas. (NBC5)
  • Speaking of Texas cheaters, Sox relief pitcher Ryan Tepera dared to bring up exactly what the Astros want baseball fans to forget – their sign-stealing cheating scandal in 2017 that ended with a World Series ring. Tepera suggested that, er, maybe there's a nefarious reason that Astros' batters struck-out swinging less often while playing at home. Expect to hear Sox fans chanting "cheaters" at tomorrow's game, Patch's Jeff Arnold writes.
