Police Track Down Bloody Carjacking Suspect After State Trooper Shooting Saturday Night
Chicago Police flood the South Loop after a carjacking suspect flees. State Police shot the 15-year-old in the neck.

CHICAGO, IL — An Illinois State Police trooper shot a carjacking suspect Saturday night after pursuing a BMW from the Dan Ryan Expressway into the South Loop. State Police late Saturday said the teen tried to run over troopers with the car.
The wounded suspect escaped near Roosevelt and Wabash but reportedly was later taken into custody at Stroger Hospital a short time later. Police dogs were used to track a blood trail leading from the scene of the shooting.
State Police told the Chicago Tribune the suspect shot by police was 15 years old. Three other people were taken into custody at the scene.

Witnesses told CBS Chicago one of the men from the BMW ran into a nearby Trader Joe's grocery store. Bullet holes could be seen in the door of the black BMW.
Chicago Police focused their search in the 1100 block of South State Street where a man in a bloody, white T-shirt was seen "crouching and hiding" behind buildings. Witnesses said a white van picked up the man and left the scene.

WGN reports a blood trail was found on South Michigan Avenue. Police on scene said the suspect was shot in the neck and bleeding heavily. WGN also obtained cellphone video of the shooting, which shows a State Trooper firing shots into a moving vehicle.
The shooting took place around 7 p.m. on Cermak Road. The BMW reportedly was carjacked at gunpoint on the Southwest Side, according to police radio calls. The pursuit began on the Dan Ryan Expressway.
Two handguns were recovered as evidence.
At 9:30 p.m., a small group of protesters had gathered at the intersection.
State Police said the Dan Ryan's Chinatown feeder ramp would remain closed for several hours due the investigation.
