CHICAGO — An off-duty police officer was shot and killed inside his home Tuesday evening by another off-duty Chicago police officer who lived with him, police said.

According to Chicago police, the shooting occurred at around 7:15 p.m. at a home near O'Hare Airport on the 8500 block of West Winona Street. The off-duty officer, 44, was shot once and pronounced dead at Lutheran General Hospital, officials said in a statement.

The Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA) will investigate the shooting, the statement said, because it involved another off-duty Chicago officer. Neither officer's name has been released.
