Chicago Man Wins $20.8M After Buying His First Scratch Off Ticket
A coworker reportedly convinced him to buy a scratch off ticket instead of playing his usual Lucky Day Lotto choice.

CHICAGO, IL — A Chicago man has won a $20.8 million prize on his first-ever scratch off ticket, the Illinois Lottery said Wednesday, according to WLS-TV. The news report said the winner wasn't identified by the Illinois Lottery, but bought his ticket at Plaza Food & Liquor, 3459 W. Ogden Ave., after a coworker convinced him to get an instant scratch off ticket.
The winner said he regularly played the Lucky Day Lotto for 18 years, but thanks to his winning 20X20 scratch-off ticket, he can enjoy $20,000 a week for 20 years.
WLS-TV said Plaza Food & Liquor will get a bonus of $208,000 for selling the winning ticket.
