Chicago Police Fatally Shoot Driver Who Pinned Officer With Vehicle: Cops
The shooting happened during a traffic stop early Sunday on the Northwest Side, according to police.

CHICAGO, IL — A 19-year-old driver was fatally shot by Chicago police during a traffic stop early Sunday on the Northwest Side after the motorist pinned an officer with his vehicle, according to the department. The officer was taken to an area hospital where he was in stable condition, police said in a statement.
The incident happened around 12:50 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 10, in the 2100 block of North Laramie Drive in the Hanson Park neighborhood. According to police, officers witnessed a vehicle driving erratically and pulled it over.
When officers got out of their squad car to investigate, the driver used his vehicle to pin one of them, police said. One of the officers then opened fire, killing the driver, according to police. The driver was identified as Juan Flores, and he lived in the same block where he was killed, the Chicago Tribune reports. He also was the only occupant in the vehicle, the report added.
The shooting is now being investigated by the Independent Police Review Authority. The officers involved in the incident will be placed on routine administrative duties for 30 days, per department protocol.

On Thursday, a Chicago police officer shot and wounded a 16-year-old boy on the West Side after a "ShotSpotter" detected gunfire in the Lawndale neighborhood. No officers were hurt in that incident.
