Chicago Sky Parade And Rally: Where To Be And When

The city will hold the celebration for the WNBA Finals winners on Tuesday with a parade starting at 11 a.m. ending in a rally at noon.

CHICAGO — The city has released details for Tuesday's parade and rally to celebrate the Chicago Sky winning the Women's National Basketball Association Finals over the weekend.

The downtown event will recognize the team's winning game Sunday night which ended with a score of 80-74 for Chicago's first basketball championship title since 1998.

The parade will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday when the women's team, including hometown superstars Candace Parker and Allie Quigley, will leave from Wintrust Arena towards the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park. The group will head north on Michigan Avenue going from Roosevelt Road to Randolph Street. Then, the group will head east to park at the Pritzker Pavilion for a rally.

The rally will begin at noon but the park will be open for eager fans by 8 a.m., officials said. The rally and parade are free and open to the public but a security screening at Michigan Avenue and Monroe Street will be required for all those who wish to attend.

Fans will be allowed to cheer along the parade route as well.

Drivers can expect rolling street closures starting at 10 a.m. on Indiana Avenue from 21st Street to Cermak Road and on Michigan Avenue from Roosevelt Road to Randolph Street. Streets will reopen as the team's motorcade passes, according to the Chicago Office of Emergency Communications.

Buses downtown will also be temporarily rerouted during the parade. For more information on transit, click here.

Fans who plan to attend the rally are asked to leave their bags at home for security reasons and to wear Chicago Sky colors of blue, yellow, black and white for spirit reasons.
