Chicago Thanksgiving Parade: How To Watch And What To Know If You Go

This year's grand marshal is a celebrity chef who's appeared on many Food Network shows.

CHICAGO — Turkey Day 2025 will kick off in Downtown Chicago with festive fanfare as the Chicago Thanksgiving Parade celebrates its 91st year.

The event will run from 8 to 11 a.m. Thursday along State Street from Ida B. Wells Drive to Randolph Street.

“This free, family-friendly holiday tradition promises a spectacular morning of floats, marching bands, cultural performances, equestrian units, and more — all brought to life by local, national, and international talent,” according to a news release about the event.

From 8 to 9 a.m., the parade will feature live performances from a variety of ensembles.

Other participants will include marching bands from across the nation, as well as two from Mexico; floats and cultural organizations; specialty acts, such as the Jesse White Tumbling Team; and equestrian groups.

This year’s grand marshal will be Maurice “Chef Blaque” Shelton, who is from Chicago’s Bronzeville neighborhood. The founder of Steel City Bakery and Black Rose Pastries, Shelton won “Sugar Rush” on Netflix and has appeared on many Food Network shows as well as “Foodtastic” on Disney+.

“A special visitor from the North Pole” will also make an appearance along the route, according to the news release.

The parade is free but those who would like bleacher seating can get it by becoming an individual sponsor in order to access the parade’s VIP experience. Organizers recommend attendees who plan to drive to the parade reserve a spot in advance with the SpotHero app.

Those who want to watch the parade on television can view it live on CBS Chicago or Pluto TV. The broadcast will be co-hosted by iHeartRadio Rock 95.5 hosts Maria Palmer and Maris. Featured guests will include 2025 Miss Illinois Nitsaniyah Fitch and Miss Illinois' Teen Lillie Brown.
