Chilly with a Good Chance of Snow Showers

A Wind Advisory is in effect through tonight, and the snow showers could be heavy for brief periods in some areas.

Some parts of the Chicago area could see snow showers, mainly between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. Some thunder is also possible. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 41. Windy, with a northwest wind around 30 mph, with gusts as high as 55 mph.

The snow showers could be briefly heavy and reduce visibility to half a mile this afternoon.

A Wind Advisory is in place through 7 p.m. today.

Strong winds likely will make for difficult travel, according to the NWS, and could cause minor damage to property and trees. Secure loose objects in your back yard (like that great pink flamingo you just brought out of winter storage).

The overall chance of precipitation is 60 percent today. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

  • Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 60°. Breezy, with a south southwest wind 10 to 15 mph increasing to 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph.
  • Sunday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 35°. Breezy, with a southwest wind 15 to 20 mph becoming north after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph.
  • Monday: Partly sunny, with a high near 40°. North wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
  • Monday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 28°.
