Kim Foxx Projected Winner In Cook County State's Attorney's Race
Despite the Jussie Smollett controversy, Foxx survived to face off in the November general election.

COOK COUNTY — Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx appears to have survived a challenge from three fellow Democrats, and looks to take on Republican Pat O'Brien in the November election.
Foxx faced challenges from Bill Conway, Donna More and Bob Fioretti. With 3,368 of 3,668 precincts reporting as of 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Foxx held onto a lead over next closest opponent Conway. At that time, Foxx had 51.6 percent of the vote to Conway's 33.7 percent. More held 14.7 percent of the tally while Fioretti had 5.2 percent.
Conway conceded via a Facebook Live video on his campaign page a little before 10 p.m.

"Things didn't go our way today," Conway said. "This race was heated, but at the end of the day as Democrats, we both care deeply bout our justice system, and I hope Ms. Foxx is able to enact the reforms it desperately needs."
Foxx' projected primary win comes nearly a year after her office dropped all charges against "Empire" actor Jussie Smollett. Smollett had faced felony charges on accusations he reported a hate crime he orchestrated himself.
