Cop Who Fatally Shot Officer Krystal Rivera Accused In Attack On Another Officer: Reports
An off-duty female officer filed a report saying Rivera's partner and another woman attacked her outside a bar over the weekend.

CHICAGO, IL — Two months after he fatally shot partner Krystal Rivera in what officials called an accidental shooting, a Chicago police officer is accused of attacking an off-duty female officer at a bar over the weekend, according to news reports.
In a police report, the female officer said she was waiting for a rideshare Sunday night when off-duty Officer Carlos Baker and a woman approached her outside a Wicker Park bar, demanding she delete videos off her phone before hitting her in the face, according to ABC Chicago.
The female officer reported the incident while being treated for a split lip, for which she received stitches, at Rush University Medical Center, the Chicago Sun-Times reported. According to ABC, the female officer said Baker was not aware she is also an officer.

Baker has been on medical leave since Rivera's shooting death, but has been stripped of his police powers as of Friday, the Chicago Tribune reported. CBS Chicago reported that Baker was accused of calling nearby businesses looking for surveillance footage of the incident.
Rivera, who was the mother of a young daughter, was killed June 5 after she and Baker reportedly pursued an armed suspect into a Chatham apartment building.

During a confrontation, police said, Baker discharged his weapon, accidentally striking Rivera in the back. Baker's gun was the only weapon discharged during the encounter, Chicago police said, although prosecutors said one suspect pointed an AR-style pistol at the officer, setting off a chain of events causing him to accidentally fire his gun.
Two suspects fled from the building but were quickly apprehended after the shooting, police said.

According to WBEZ, Baker has a "lengthy" disciplinary record since joining the Chicago Police Department in 2021, with more than a dozen misconduct complaints, for which he faced three suspensions and two reprimands. Five previous complaints were sustained, including two incidents deemed "preventable accidents," according to ABC.
Rivera's family and their attorneys have questioned why Baker was still with the Chicago Police Department after previous disciplinary incidents, and called for an independent investigation into the fatal shooting, CBS reported.
No charges have been filed in connection to the incident at the Wicker Park bar, according to reports.
Devoted mother 'served with humanity'
Rivera left behind 10-year-old daughter Bella, and was remembered at a celebration of life on June 25.
According to her obituary, Rivera was born Nov. 29, 1988 to loving Puerto Rican parents, Yolanda Rivera and Eduardo Miguel Rivera. She was the youngest of three sisters, with whom she shared a deep bond. Her father was a preacher, who helped anchor a strong foundation of faith in her life.
“Her daughter was the center of her world, and everything she did was with Isabella in mind,” CPD Chaplain Kimberly Lewis-Davis said. “She poured her love, energy, and strength into being a devoted mother; instilling strong moral values, teaching her to be kind and loving, and leading by example with grace and courage.”
At the time of her death, Rivera was “a proud four-year and four-month police officer of the Chicago Police Department.”
