CHICAGO, IL — Four Chicago police officers were reportedly treated early Monday for smoke inhalation after they helped rescue a family from an engulfed West Side building.
The officers were on patrol in the city's East Garfield Park neighborhood shortly after midnight when they saw a fire starting in a two-flat, according to an ABC7 News report. A woman told the officers her family was still inside the building.
The officers entered the home, alerted residents, and helped them escape from the building. The fire displaced three children and two adults, four of whom were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition, according to fire officials.
