Coronavirus: Chicago Police Detective Tests Positive for COVID-19
Update: Police and public health officials are working to identify people who may have come into contact with detective who tested positive.

CHICAGO — A Chicago police detective tested positive for the new coronavirus Thursday, officials said.
"Once we were notified of the confirmed case, the Department began a thorough cleaning and disinfection of the facility where the employee was stationed. The employee’s work area and any vehicles and equipment used by the individual are also being cleaned," a police spokesman said in a statement.
Police and city public health officials are working to identify people who may have come into contact with the detective, who will remain at home until medically cleared, according to the statement.

A police spokesman said the federal law restricting release of medical information prohibits identifying the building where the detective worked.
