Could Scurrilous Second City Cop Blog's Strategy Oust Kim Foxx?
KONKOL COMMENTARY: Second City Cop Blog party-swapping strategy for ousting Kim Foxx might sound good when you're drunk, but it won't work.

CHICAGO — The always contrarian (often racist) Second City Cop blog has jumped into the election endorsement game with an unusual plan aimed at ousting Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx.
"We're going to pick a side here and it isn't going to make some people happy," the anonymously penned blog posted on Valentine's Day.
Second City Cop, a blog billed as "sarcasm and silliness from a Windy City cop," urged its right-wing conservative readership to ignore the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 7 endorsement of Republican state's attorney candidate Christopher Pfannkuche, pull a Democratic ballot on Election Day and vote for Foxx challenger Bill Conway, despite the "progressive" leanings of the deep-pocketed former prosecutor.

"Yes, it's painful, but it's the only way to actually succeed at what we're proposing," the unnamed blogger wrote. The post offered bullet-point arguments for its race-based, get-out-the-vote campaign strategy. An astute political consultant told me they are akin to "the genius that comes after six shots of Irish whiskey."
"While you're at it, vote for Bernie Sanders (feel the bern!) Bernie winning will help hobble democrats nationally, so go for it," the Second City Cop blogger wrote. "THIS IS THE BEST OPPORTUNITY TO DEFEAT CRIMESHA FOXXX. If she makes it past the primary, she's going to eat [Pfannakuche] for lunch. That's simply a fact of voting demographics. So she has to lose the primary."

With Donald Trump considered a lock to win the Illinois Republican primary, could the Second City Cop blog be right?
When I asked the astute Illinois campaign strategist, he choked on his own spit.
"That's so terrible and dumb. Anyone who would write that is a f------ idiot," the gadfly said.
Idiots have been right before, I argued.
"Not a chance in hell," he said. "But it is a reminder, don't underestimate collective stupidity."
The Second City Cop blogger, prepared for such sharp anonymous criticism, urged readers not to discount the proposed party-swapping ballot plan to oust Foxx, who is black, by lining up the conservative cop vote behind one of the other candidates on the ballot, who are all white.
Without citing a source, the phantom cop blogger wrote: "There's some support for it as voters see the outrageous crimes being committed by persons out on bail, not serving sentences, not even being charged, and being released to terrorize the same communities over and over again."
The blog argues that thanks to his daddy's money, Conway — the namesake son of the billionaire co-founder of a D.C. private equity firm, the Carlyle Group — has a much bigger campaign war chest and therefore a better chance than Foxx's other challengers, lawyer Donna More and former Ald. Bob Fioretti.
"If voters launch the incumbent, the Machine sits up and takes notice," the blog continued. "It's not the optimal solution, but it's what we've got. Vote early. Vote often. Vote absentee if you have to."
A middle-of-the-road political know-it-all with decades of experience running winning campaigns told me he's seen this kind of thing before.
"I come from a whole family of police. Whenever police come up with a political idea, it's always f----- up," he said. "Remember when Foxx got in all this Jussie Smollett trouble and they thought it was a good idea to have a rally. They made it police against a black woman. That was the dumbest thing ever. Now, this."
The know-it-all offered some unsolicited political advice — anonymous guy to anonymous cop blog: "They'd be better off just keeping their mouth shut like they're taught in the academy."
We'll see what happens on St. Patrick's Day, when voters hit the polls and Irish whiskey shots go down easy.
