Cubs' Addison Russell Guest Stars On 'Superior Donuts'

VIDEO: The Chicago shortstop's TV appearance wasn't delayed Monday even if the team's home opener was.

CHICAGO, IL — The Chicago Cubs' 2018 home opener might have been postponed Monday, but that didn't mean one North Sider's TV appearance had to be delayed. Shortstop Addison Russell still will make his acting debut on Monday night's episode of the Chicago-based "Superior Donuts."

According to an episode synopsis of the CBS show, Russell visits Arthur (played by Judd Hirsch), owner of the titular doughnut shop and "a Cubs super-fan" who's trying to break the record for attending consecutive home openers at Wrigley Field. Unfortunately, Arthur doesn't have a ticket for this year's game and needs to find a way to keep the streak alive.

The episode, which will air at 8 p.m. Monday, April 9, would have been a bit of cross-promotional synergy between the Cubs and the series, running the same night as the team's day game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Now Arthur has an extra day to score that ticket for the Wrigley opener, which has been postponed until 1:20 p.m. Tuesday, April 10.
