  • Former Mayor Richard Daley is in the hospital. Daley, who turned 80 in April, was taken to Northwestern in an ambulance Wednesday. His longtime spokeswoman Jacqueline Heard said the former mayor was alert and talking with family. Get well soon, mayor. (CBS2)

  • The machete-wielding man wanted for a string of North Side robberies is in custody. Andre Gonzalez, 35, has what looks like an owl neck tattoo, and faces four counts of armed robbery. (Patch)
  • The 20-year-old hero who saved a fellow CTA rider that fell on the Red Line's electrified third rail was rewarded with a car. Early Walker, founder of "I’m Telling, Don’t Shoot, " gave Anthony Perry a 2008 Audi on Wednesday. (WGN9)
  • New York prosecutors are asking a judge to sentence Chicago hip-hop star R. Kelly to 25 years in prison for his conviction on racketeering charges related to the abuse of women and girls. (ABC7)
  • An unidentified man was found dead with a cord wrapped around his neck in a Ford City Mall parking lot. "Gruesome," police called the homicide. No one is in custody. (Patch)
