Acting as his own lawyer may have been a bad idea for the "Dread Head Cowboy."

Adam Hollingsworth, who opted to defend himself in court against felony charges including animal cruelty for riding his horse on the Dan Ryan, got thrown in the hoosegow for 90 days.

Hollingsworth was found in contempt of court for repeatedly interrupting the judge presiding over his trial. He also claimed his dog chewed a flash drive loaded with evidence against him.

  • A first-of-its kind "Golden Girls" fan festival is coming to the Northalsted neighborhood in April. It’s called "Golden-Con: Thanks For Being A Fan." Organizers say there will be a vendor’s market, live parody shows, a costume parade and a Rusty Anchor pop-up bar. No word on whether the lone surviving star, Betty White, who turns 100 in January, will be there. (Patch)
  • A Chicago police detective testified Tuesday in actor Jussie Smollet's trial on charges that he allegedly faked a hate crime against himself. Detective Michael Theis said police determined the alleged hate crime was a "staged event." When asked who orchestrated the entire thing, Theis said, "Mr. Jussie Smollett." (Patch)
  • With a month to go in 2021, Cook County has tallied 1,000 homicides in a single year for the first time since the crack-cocaine crisis. (Patch)
  • Chicago public health officials issued warnings about the potential dangers of the COVID-19 "omicron" variant. (NBC5)
