Driver Injured After Plane Hits Chicago O'Hare Airport Tug: Reports

The 64-year-old man was critically injured but was stable at the hospital, reports said.

CHICAGO, IL — A 64-year-old man was critically injured Saturday when the airport tug he was driving was hit by a plane at Chicago O'Hare International Airport, according to reports.

The incident happened shortly before 7 p.m., NBC5 Chicago reported. The wing of the plane hit the tug as it was trying to cross a runway, which caused the tug to turn over and pin the driver, the report said.

The man was taken to Lutheran General Hospital with head and lower body injuries, Fox 32 Chicago reported.

The plane was identified as Air Wisconsin flight 6181 and was approaching a gate at O'Hare, CBS News reported, citing FAA officials. Air Wisconsin is a regional airline that conducts flights for American Airlines operating as American Eagle.

There were no injuries to those on the plane, the reports said.
