CHICAGO — State police are seeking the public’s help as they investigate a fatal crash in which a driver was hit by a large piece of metal that flew through a windshield before the collision on Interstate 94 in Chicago, authorities said.
Police responded around 5:10 a.m. Monday to the express lanes of the southbound interstate at 29th Street, where they found a gray GMC Yukon crashed into a concrete wall, according to authorities. The metal that struck the driver is believed to have come off a semitrailer, police said.
Anyone who was in the area at the time of the crash, who saw the incident, or who may have dashboard camera footage of the collision or the scene around the time it happened is asked to call state police at 847-608-3200, according to authorities.
