Off-Duty CPD Officer Found Dead In Home

CHICAGO — An off-duty Chicago police officer was found dead Wednesday at a home on the city's far north side.

Officers responded around 2:45 p.m. to a call for a well-being check in the 7400 block of North California Avenue, police said, adding the 54-year-old man was discovered unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident was classified as a death investigation, according to police. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office determined the man took his own life.
