Facebook To Open Larger Chicago Office
The new 263,000 square foot space will be in a newly opened, 35-story high-rise on Franklin Street.

CHICAGO, IL — While Amazon hasn't decided on the city that will become the home for its second campus, Chicago is still catching the eye of West Coast internet companies. Facebook announced Monday that it will be opening a new office in Chicago, according to Crain's Chicago Business.
The California-based social media company — which has been in Chicago since 2007 and already has an 100,000 square foot office at 191 N. Wacker Drive — will be adding a spacious 263,000 square foot facility at 151 N. Franklin St. A Facebook spokesman would not say how many jobs this will create, nor would he say if the Franklin Street office would replace the Wacker Drive home, Crain's reports.
"Facebook’s decision to double down on Chicago with new jobs and investment is a testament to the talent of our residents and the incredible strength of our fast-growing tech sector," Mayor Rahm Emanuel said in a statement. "For businesses looking to innovate and invest in the jobs of the 21st century, Chicago is the future. I look forward to seeing Facebook continue to grow and thrive in their new home in the city of Chicago."

The new office will fill up much of the remaining space in the newly opened, 35-story high-rise, according to Crain's. CNA Financial also has a 300,000 square foot office in the building.
