Flight Evacuated at O'Hare Airport for 'Suspicious Package' But It Was Only Trash | Update
Chicago Fire Department and police dispatched Sunday night to an American Airlines jet from North Carolina.

CHICAGO, IL — Passengers aboard an American Airlines flight at O'Hare International Airport were evacuated from an American Airlines plane due a "suspicious package" found under a seat — but the package was just a bundle of garbage.
Flight 2601 from Raleigh-Durham International Airport in North Carolina was isolated on Runway 14-R and everyone was evacuated as the Chicago Fire Department and police responded and surrounded the plane. About 140 people were aboard the plane. They were taken from the plane to a secured area in four buses.

The flight landed in Chicago at 6:55 p.m. Central time. Everyone was off the plane by 7:30 p.m. The flight departed Raleigh-Durham at 5:12 p.m. Central time.
After clearing the plane and investigating, authorities determined the "suspicious package" was just trash. The fire department cleared the scene at about 8:30 p.m.
