Frost Possible Tonight; Cover Your Sensitive Plants
A frost advisory will be in effect from 1 a.m. to 8 a.m. in some parts of northern Illinois.
Cover your sensitive plants tonight because we could see frost and near-freezing temperatures early Sunday, according to the National Weather Service, which issued an overnight frost advisory for the northern suburbs. Other parts of the Chicago area north of I-80 could see patchy frost.
Expect overnight temperatures in the lower to mid-30s. The frost advisory will be in effect from 1 a.m. to 8 a.m. Sunday. Sensitive outdoor plants may be damaged or killed if left uncovered, the NWS advises.
The temperatures are "more reminiscent of highs in late March/early April," according to the NWS. A cold air mass will remain place over northern Illinois throughout the weekend.
