Glass From Broken High-Rise Window Falls On Michigan Avenue

No one was injured from the debris Wednesday afternoon.

CHICAGO, IL — Glass from a broken high-rise window fell on Michigan Avenue on Wednesday, forcing Chicago police to close off parts of Illinois Street, according to the Chicago Tribune. No one was injured by the debris, which authorities say was caused by wind and building "wear and tear," the report added.

The 14th-story window of the building, 500 N. Michigan Ave., shattered at around 12:45 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, the report stated. Police cordoned off parts of the sidewalk where the glass fell, and squad cars blocked Illinois Street between Michigan Avenue and Rush Street, the report added.

Glass also landed on the awning of the Purple Pig restaurant, the report stated. Work crews were on hand to break out the remaining glass in the window and board it up, the report stated.
