Glass From Shattered High-Rise Window Falls On Randolph Street

No one was reported injured from the debris that crashed to the ground Wednesday afternoon in the Loop, closing a part of the street.

CHICAGO, IL — Falling shards of glass from a shattered high-rise window closed parts of Randolph Street on Wednesday afternoon. The glass and other debris fell from the 15th story of a building at 225 W. Randolph St., which caused city officials to shut down Randolph between Franklin and LaSalle streets at around 2:35 p.m., according to the Chicago Tribune. The reason for the window shattering still hasn't been determined, the report added.

City of Chicago work crews and an outside scaffold company have been clearing away the fallen debris and working to replace the window after it shattered, the report stated. No one was reported hurt from the falling glass, the report added.

The stretch of Randolph Street will likely remain closed through rush hour Wednesday as crews continue to work. (Get Patch real-time email alerts for the latest news for Chicago — or your neighborhood. And iPhone users: Check out Patch's new app.)
