- A federal jury convicted "Bro Man" — Labar Spann, that is. The notorious leader of a Four Corner Hustler street gang faction called “The Outlaws” faces a life sentence. (WGN)
- A Chicago-based security firm with Lollapalooza crowd-control credentials finds itself in the spotlight of investigators probing the Astroworld concert tragedy. Hector Garcia's company, Valle Services, had a contract to provide security officers at the Houston music festival where eight people died and dozens were injured. (ABC7)
- The feds confiscated more than 220 pounds of cocaine in neighborhoods where folks can afford it. Authorities snagged about 176 pounds of coke in River North, and about 44 pounds in a Gold Coast hotel room. (Fox32)
