Gunshot Or Shut Door? SWAT Checks Out Mistaken Noise At CTA Stop

Confusion over the loud sound sent Chicago police to the Red Line station Thursday morning.

CHICAGO, IL — The sound of a slamming door was mistaken for gunfire Thursday morning at a CTA station, sending Red Line passengers running while a SWAT team investigated, the Chicago Tribune reports. No one was hurt in the confusion, and no delays were caused, the report added.

According to police, the incident happened around 8 a.m. Thursday, March 8, at the station at State Street and Chicago Avenue, the report stated. A door for disabled riders had shut, leading someone to shout that shots had been fired, the report added.
