Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump Declared Winners in N.Y. Primary
Clinton's win declared after early close returns. Trump's victory projected immediately after the polls closed.

Exit polls showed Sanders, the underdog candidate for the Democratic presidential primary in New York, neck and neck with Clinton, a native of Park Ridge, IL. She's now won the state where she was born and raised and the state where she served as a U.S. senator. Sanders was counting on a New York win to extend his streak of recent primary and caucus wins and persuade super delegates to switch their allegiance away from Clinton.
"To our volunteers, organizers, and supporters who worked your hearts out in New York: This is your win. Thank you," Clinton tweeted.
The Republican primary race was a much faster call: Donald Trump was declared the easy winner within minutes of 8 p.m. Central time. It was unlikely that John Kasich or Ted Cruz would deny Trump a win tonight, but the anti-Trump forces in the GOP were hoping to keep his margin of victory small and diminish his momentum. Trump's margin of victory could be greater than 30 percent, according to exit polls.
"Thank you, New York. I love you," Trump tweeted after the vote.
