Pastor's Wife Killed In Chicago Hit-And-Run, Officials Say
The woman was in a marked crosswalk on Friday morning when a turning car hit her and then fled, police said.
CHICAGO — Chicago Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash in Ukrainian Village that fatally injured a 66-year-old pedestrian who was crossing the street.
The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office and the local Ukrainian Catholic diocese identified the woman as Halyna Hudzan. Her husband Volodymyr was a former pastor at the nearby St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral, as ABC7 reported.
Officials said the crash happened shortly before 9 a.m. Friday in the 700 block of North Oakley Boulevard, as Hudzan was crossing the street. According to police, a 2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross turned into the crosswalk and hit her.

The vehicle driver fled the scene, police said; no arrests have been announced as of Saturday morning.
First responders took Hudzan to Stroger Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

In a social media post, the St. Nicholas Diocese in Chicago for Ukrainians asked for prayers for Halyna, Volodymyr, and their family "during this heartbreaking time."
Memorial arrangements are pending, according to Hudzan's obituary with Muzyka Funeral Home.
