  • Detectives searching for the shooter who fatally wounded 8-year-old Melissa Ortega in Little Village on Saturday are following "promising leads," authorities said. "We owe it to Melissa and her family and the city to hold every person involved accountable," Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown said. (Patch)
  • A City Council committee voted down a proposed $150,000 settlement in a police misconduct lawsuit filed by the mother of a mentally ill man who was shot and killed by police in 2013. Several alderpeople argued the shooting was justified. (CBS2)
  • How cold is it in Chicago? It's so cold that astronauts in the International Space Station are mocking us on social media from 250 miles above the Earth's surface. What a view. (Patch)
  • The snarky folks at the Wieners Circle in Lincoln Park celebrated the Green Bay Packers' playoff demise by serving customers free fries covered in the finest Wisconsin cheese. "Enjoy today’s bar special in honor of our good neighbor @AaronRodgers12 choking!" The Wieners Circle tweeted Sunday. (NBC5)
  • A couple inches of snow and "dibs" is back. Some people aren't happy about it. "This isn’t the most peaceful city in the world, so you're afraid what some moron might do if you pull a dining chair out from the street when you are coming home from a day of work trying to park," an anti-dibs man said. (Fox32)

Last week, we told you about our new favorite non-alcoholic go-to — the refreshingly bitter drinks from our partners at Betera. They’re chef-created from natural botanicals, lightly effervescent and worthy of life beyond “Dry January.” We mentioned that their Ginger-Orange was excellent; we’ve since tried Elderflower-Lime and loved it as well — light and floral with the perfect amount of zing. We're converts.
