Ice Rink At Millennium Park Opens

Ice skating at the rink begins Friday. Check out when the rink will be open throughout the holidays.

CHICAGO, IL — Start sharpening your blades, Chicago ice skaters. The rink at Millennium Park is set to open Friday for the first time this season. The opening — weather permitting — coincides with the city's 104th annual Chicago Christmas Tree Lighting Celebration.

Skating is free at the McCormick Tribune Ice Rink on Michigan Avenue, between Washington and Madison streets, at Millennium Park. Skate rentals cost $12 Monday through Thursday, and $14 Friday through Sunday and on holidays.

Hours for the rink are noon to 8 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, noon to 10 p.m. Fridays, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturdays (Nov. 18 to Jan. 6), and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sundays. The rink also will be open during these holidays:

  • 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thanksgiving, Nov. 23
  • 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Black Friday, Nov. 24
  • 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Christmas Eve, Dec. 24
  • 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Christmas, Dec. 25
  • 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily from Dec. 26-30
  • 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31
  • 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. New Year’s Day, Jan. 1

The ice rink will be open until March 4.
