Illinois State Fair Stabbing: 16-Year-Old Girl Attacked by Another Teen

A 17-year-old girl was taken into custody Saturday night.

SPRINGFIELD, IL — On a day reserved for a baton twirling contest, a dairy cow show and a demolition derby, a violent episode played out at the Illinois State Fair when a 17-year-old girl stabbed a 16-year-old girl Saturday night, according to State Police.

The victim was released from the hospital on Sunday.

State troopers on patrol at the fair were immediately at the scene of the attack and took the 17-year-old girl into custody. They also recovered the weapon. The stabbing took place in a carnival area of the fair, according to a State Police statement.

The 10-day fair was scheduled to end on Sunday.
