  • “This is crazy. This is insane! What is wrong with us?” said Gina Stewart. The Rogers Park resident was talking about thieves that stole a backhoe on the South Side, and hauled it to her neighborhood to break open an ATM. (CBS)
  • Chicago's anti-violence efforts come with a heavy personal cost for interventionists on the street trying to stop shootings. A new study shows they are under supported and traumatized, Patrick Smith reports. (WBEZ)
  • Mayor Lori Lightfoot hasn't given up trying to convince the Bears to keep playing home games at Soldier Field. Lightfoot told the Mully & Haugh Show on WSCR 670AM that she plans to pitch the team a plan with very compelling financial benefits. (Patch)
  • Detectives used surveillance video to identify and arrest a man charged with fatally shooting popular South Side dance coach Verndell Smith, whose studio was a safe haven for kids. A judge ordered Diontay Kimberly, 31, was held without bail. (FOX32)
  • More kids aren't on track to graduate high school.
