CHICAGO (CBS) — U.S. Rep. Jesus "Chuy" Garcia endorsed Cook County Commissioner Brandon Johnson in the race for Chicago mayor on Friday, giving his former rival a potentially big boost in his bid to defeat former Chicago Public Schools CEO Paul Vallas.

Despite entering the mayor's race as a perceived frontrunner, Garcia came in fourth place in the first round of voting on Feb. 28, with approximately 14% of the vote, while Johnson and Vallas took the top two spots. Mayor Lori Lightfoot finished third, losing her bid for re-election.
