Junkyard Fire Fills Chicago Sky with Black Smoke
The plume of smoke can be seen for miles. A level one haz-mat response has been declared.
Chicago, IL — A junkyard fire on Chicago's Southeast Side is blazing away Monday afternoon, sending a thick, black plume of smoke into the sky that can be seen for miles around.
The fire at 106th Street and Muskegon near the Calumet River was upgraded to a Level 1 Haz-Mat response as of 3 p.m. The Chicago Fire Department responded to 3033 E. 106th St. As of 4 p.m., no injuries were reported.
