There's a quiet fight in federal court over who should decide the fate of vaccine mandates that hasn't made many headlines.

Lawyers representing Chicago and the rest of Cook County have filed objections to U.S. District Court Judge John Robert Blakey's suggestion that all lawsuits targeting mandatory jab policies should be reassigned to his court room.

A concerned Democrat called me with this question: "What the hell do you think this Republican judge could be up to?"

  • Speaking of federal court, I watched ABC Owned Television Station‘s "Being Blago" — and you should, too. Patty Blagojevich steals the show until her husband, one of Illinois' felonious former governors, Rod Blagojevich, says he could probably beat Mayor Lori Lightfoot in an election."Sounds like he was having a bad hair day," the mayor's people replied.   • Folks shut down the Jane Byrne Interchange Wednesday in protest of text messages sent by McDonald's CEO Chris Kempczinki to Mayor Lightfoot that activists called "ignorant and racist." (Patch)
  • A Chicago cop shot was shot and killed by his wife, who also is a police officer, his Northwest Side house. The officers have not been identified. The Civilian Office of Police Accountability said they are investigating the incident. (ABC7)
  • Hundreds of people gathered in Wrigleyville to pray for the safe return of Iñaki Bascaran. The 23-year-old man was last seen outside the River North nightclub, Celeste, four days ago. (Block Club)
