CHICAGO (CBS) — Chicago Park District Board chair Avis Lavelle resigned on Wednesday in the latest fallout from the lifeguard sex abuse scandal at the Chicago Park District. Lavelle informed the board of her decision to resign at the end of Wednesday’s board meeting.
“Let me be clear, I am not being forced out. Mayor Lightfoot did not ask me to resign. She has been resolute in her support for me both publicly and privately, and for that I am profoundly grateful,” she said.
