Man, 76, Beaten To Death At Bus Stop In Chicago: Reports
His attacker stole a running SUV that was parked outside a McDonald's with the owner's grandchildren inside, the Sun-Times reported.
CHICAGO — A 76-year-old man was beaten to death earlier this week at a bus stop on Chicago’s south side, according to reports.
The incident occurred around 9:15 p.m. Monday in the 9500 block of South Halsted Street, police said. Responding officers found the man on the ground with head trauma after he was pushed and battered by a male who fled the scene, according to police.
The victim was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center, police said.

After the attack, the assailant, a 32-year-old man, stole an SUV from a woman who had gone into a nearby McDonald’s to order food, leaving her two grandchildren in the running vehicle, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
The man threatened to shoot the children, ages 14 and 3, if they didn’t exit the SUV, the newspaper reported, adding the woman and her grandchildren were not hurt and the thief was later arrested in Indiana.
