Man Fatally Hit By Semi On I-57 Near 103rd Street

Illinois State Police said all lanes of northbound I-57 at 103rd Street were reopened at 7:40 a.m. Monday after the man was hit and killed.

CHICAGO, IL — A Calumet Park man was killed on the South Side Monday morning by a passing semi truck headed northbound on I-57 at 103rd Street, according to a news release from the Illinois State Police.

Early investigation shows that 36-year-old Randy E. Baldwin, from Parkersburg, West Virginia, was driving the truck in the right lane of northbound I-57 just before 5 a.m. A 25-year-old man from Calumet Park was in the lane for unknown reasons and was hit by the semi, according to police.

Police said that at 5:01 a.m., the middle and right lanes of northbound I-57 were closed for the ongoing traffic investigation, with traffic diverted to the left lane. Just under 3 hours later, all lanes were back open, according to police.
