Man Hit By Flying Metal Through Windshield In I-94 Fatal Crash Identified
The metal that struck the 45-year-old is believed to have come off a semitrailer, police said.

CHICAGO — Authorities on Tuesday released the identity of a man killed in a crash after a large piece of metal flew through his windshield on Interstate 94.
The victim was 45-year-old Jackine L. Austin of Chicago, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
State police announced Monday they were seeking the public’s help as they investigated the crash on the southbound interstate at 29th Street, authorities said.

Police responded around 5:10 a.m. Monday to the express lanes, where they found a gray GMC Yukon crashed into a concrete wall, according to authorities. The metal that struck Austin is believed to have come off a semitrailer, police said.
Anyone who was in the area at the time of the crash, who saw the incident, or who may have dashboard camera footage of the collision or the scene around the time it happened is asked to call state police at 847-608-3200, according to authorities.
