Man Pushed CTA Rider Onto Tracks At Loop Blue Line Station: Cops (VIDEO)

Chicago police released Friday a security camera video of the suspect in the incident that happened more than a month ago.

CHICAGO, IL — Police released a video and an image Friday of a man who is suspected of pushing a Blue Line passenger onto the tracks at a Loop CTA station more than a month ago. The rider — a 46-year-old man — was waiting to board a train Aug. 1 at the Washington Station at 19 N. Dearborn St. when he was shoved, police stated in a community alert. The victim injured his right wrist falling on the tracks, the Chicago Tribune reports.

According to police, the suspect came up behind the victim and pushed him, which sent the victim onto the tracks. The suspect continued to harass the victim while he was on the tracks and wouldn't allow him back up on the platform, police said. Finally, witnesses stepped in to help the victim.

Police described the suspect as a white man with sandy blond hair, between 30 to 35 years old, around 5-feet-8-inches to 5-feet-10-inches tall and weight between 180 pounds to 190 pounds. He was seen wearing dark-colored jeans and a light-blue, short-sleeve shirt. (Get Patch real-time email alerts for the latest news for Chicago — or your neighborhood. Although photos of the suspect were given to officers and CTA security, Chicago police didn't release an alert earlier because investigators believed it to be "an isolated incident," according to a report by the Tribune earlier this week. A CTA spokeswoman told the Tribune that the transit agency didn't release because it leaves those matters to the police.
