Man Starts Bag Fire At Far North Side Red Line Station: Cops

No one was hurt during the rush hour incident Thursday, and the suspect was taken into custody.

CHICAGO, IL — A man is accused of starting a small fire on a CTA Red Line platform during rush hour Thursday on the Far North Side. No one was hurt in the incident, and the Chicago Fire Department extinguished the fire quickly, the Chicago Tribune reports.

According to Chicago police, a report of man setting a book bag on fire at the Argyle Avenue Station in was received at around 5:20 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, the report stated. Firefighters arrived at the scene to put out the minor blaze, and police took the man accused of starting the fire into custody, the report added.

The fire caused a disruption in Red Line service, but the line's normal service resumed at about 6:10 p.m., the Tribune reports.
