Sports talk radio went bananas Tuesday after I reported news from a top source that Bears head coach Matt Nagy had been told by team owners his time in Chicago would end after the Thanksgiving Day game against the Detroit Lions.

At a news conference, Nagy denied the report, saying he had not had a discussion with the Bears' front office. Late Tuesday, Tribune Bears reporter Brad Biggs reported that Nagy told players he had met with ownership and cancelled the remaining meetings scheduled for the day.

  • Matt Nagy says he didn't notice the "Fire Nagy" chants from Cary-Grove students while attending a playoff football game against Lake Forest High School, where two of the Bears coach's sons are listed on the varsity roster. "You have to understand where people are coming from and how they react or how they don't react. I was there to watch my son play football. I was there to be a dad. It was a pretty cool time," Nagy said. Cary-Grove's principal issued a statement condemning the anti-Nagy chanting, Jeff Arnold reports. (Patch)
  • Speaking of Bears news: Quarterback Andy Dalton will get the Thanksgiving Day start against the Detroit Lions. Justin Fields left Sunday's game with a rib injury and "most likely, he will not be active in that game." (Patch)
  • The CTA's holiday train and bus makes a comeback Friday after a pandemic-caused hiatus. Santa and his chief spokes-elf, Ella, have extra guidelines and reminders in place this year because of COVID-19, the Chicago Transit Authority said. (Patch)
  • Parlor Pizza is facing a city investigation of allegations from former employees that they were not paid for overtime, faced sexual harassment and that customers were discriminated against based on race or age. (NBC5)
  • The end of Illinois’ ban on evictions during the COVID-19 pandemic did not trigger a long-feared tsunami of evictions in Chicago or Cook County, Heather Cherone reports. In Chicago, 1,278 households were evicted from their homes in October 2021, along with 42 businesses, according to the data. In suburban Cook County, an additional 566 households were evicted, along with 22 businesses, according to public records. (WTTW)
