Your Favorite Menu Item Is Back At This Major Fast Food Chain

CHICAGO, IL — This is not a drill, Snack Wraps are returning to the McDonald's menu next month, the company announced Tuesday.

The Chicago-based chain is answering the pleas of many who have voiced their desire for the fan-favorite to come back since it was discontinued in 2016. Look for the item on menus nationwide starting July 10.

"From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Today, I woke up with an even greater feeling of gratitude and pride. Because finally after 9 years, I get to announce the day the Snack Wrap returns," the social media manager for McDonald's wrote on Facebook.

Buzz about the Snack Wrap's return began in April, when the chain posted a fairly cryptic postannouncing they'd be back soon, but didn't include a specific date. Tuesday's announcement put an end to the eager anticipation sparked by the April post, and credited fans for its return.

"You created a movement. A movement so powerful that you finally won," the post read.

In a December, McDonald's USA president Joe Erlinger told Good Morning America that Snack Wraps were on their way back. In the company's latest earnings call in February, a representative said, "there is incredible energy for the return of Snack Wraps in the U.S. along with a few other markets, and the U.S. will also launch a new chicken strip offering."

Snack Wraps first hit the McDonald's menu in 2006 and quickly gained a cult following that has passionately advocated for their homecoming. One Change.org petition to bring the menu item back gained 18,886 signatures.

The wraps contain a small strip of the chain's Chicken Selects, lettuce, cheese and special sauce inside a soft flour tortilla. The Snack Wrap is one of the healthiest options on the McDonald's menu with 260 to 270 calories per wrap, and customers have said they appreciate how easy the snack is to eat.
