McDonald's For Life Will Go To One Lucky McGold Card Winner
The Chicago-based, fast-food chain is letting customers enter to win the rare card through a new mobile order-and-pay feature on its app.

CHICAGO, IL — As part of its national rollout for its Mobile Order & Pay function in the fast-food restaurant's app, McDonald's is giving customers a chance to win a rare McGold Card. Anyone who uses Mobile Order & Pay will be entered for a chance to win a mobile version of the card, which entitles the bearer to McDonald's for life, the Chicago-based chain announced Friday.
The first McGold Card was given to the mayor of St. Louis in 1965 during a ceremony unveiling the Gateway Arch. Since then, the cards have been given "to notable figures ranging from the governor of Michigan to the king of Sweden," McDonald's said in a statement. This will mark the first time a McGold Card has been given to a lucky customer.
The giveaway runs through Aug. 24, with one entry per day for customers. Only one winner will be selected, and the McGold Card winner will also receive a customized 24-carat golden phone case.
