'A Message From Her': Man Wins $650K With Lotto Numbers Tied To Late Wife

CHICAGO — A Chicago lottery player recently won $650,000 using numbers connected to his late wife.
“I typically play Pick 4 but that day, I noticed that the Lucky Day Lotto jackpot was pretty high so I decided to switch it up and try something new,” the winner said in an Illinois Lottery news release.” “I picked numbers related to my late wife — when I won, it felt like it was a message from her.”
He bought the ticket for the Saturday evening drawing at Mariano’s in the Edgewater neighborhood.

“I’m already looking at houses, and can’t wait to purchase my dream home for myself and my kids — it truly is a dream come true,” he said in the news release.
The ticket matched all five numbers in the drawing: 9, 11, 12, 13 and 17.

“I’m still so shocked and excited about the win, I have barely been able to sleep!” he said in the news release.
For selling the winning ticket, the Mariano’s store will get a bonus totaling 1 percent of the prize amount, or $6,500.
Lucky Day Lotto is an Illinois-only game with twice-daily drawings.
