Metra Train Derails Near Union Station
The derailment affects the Milwaukee District North line.

A Metra commuter train derailed late this afternoon near Canal Street outside of Union Station at about 3 p.m. No passengers were aboard the train and no injuries were reported, but the delays are affecting many passengers well into the evening.
As of 6 p.m., the derailed train cars were removed from the tracks. Crews remained on scene inspecting the tracks.
The Milwaukee District-North line in both directions has been affected for several hours. Metra reports the Milwaukee West line and the North Central Service also experiencing delays. Equipment on the Heritage Corridor line that passes through Union Station from the North Side also was delayed.

A second track out of Union Station has been opened, according to Metra, but delays through the evening will be extensive.

The derailment is right outside Union Station. Crews are currently on the scene assessing the situation. This will effect North side of CUS.
