Mike Madigan Secretly Recorded By FBI During Meeting: Report
Madigan was secretly recorded during a meeting at his law office by the FBI, report said.

CHICAGO, IL — Illinois House Speaker Mike Madigan was secretly recorded by the FBI during a 2014 meeting involving a developer he was trying to get business from for his private law firm, the Chicago Sun-Times said according to a federal court affidavit. The Sun-Times reported Ald. Danny Solis arranged the meeting because he was thinking over a request from the developer to build a hotel in Chinatown, a federal court affidavit claims. Solis previously worked with federal officials to secretly record conversations with Alderman Ed Burke, who was recently charged with attempted extortion in efforts blackmail a Burger King franchisee who wanted to remodel a restaurant in Burke’s 14th Ward, the news report added according to an affidavit.
Madigan was recorded by the developer's associate, but isn’t facing any criminal charges, according to a federal court affidavit.
The Sun-Times said in a statement made Monday through his attorney, Madigan denied any wrongdoing and “to our knowledge, neither the speaker nor his law firm is under investigation.”
