1. A five-year-old boy was killed Wednesday night in a hit-and-run on the Northwest Side. Police are searching for a red Jeep which struck Taha Khan near the intersection of Devon and Cicero. (NBC)
2. The city health department is expected to administer 2,000 monkeypox vaccines this weekend. Anyone with close contact is eligible for vaccination, especially “gay, bisexual, cis or trans men who have sex with men.” Find appointments here. (Block Club)
3. Ald. Sophia King will be the ninth candidate to join the Chicago mayoral race. The 4th ward alderman joins businessman Willie Wilson, activist Ja’Mal Green and five others looking to unseat Mayor Lori Lightfoot in the February election. (WBEZ)
4. A woman was released this week after more than 400 days at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Colette Hurd was hospitalized in May 2021 with pulmonary hypertension and received a double lung and kidney transplant. “My husband came to the hospital every day,” she said. “He did not miss a day.” (WGN)
5. A two-year tradition of Chicago teams winning the MLB “Field of Dreams” game continued Thursday night. The Cubs went the distance, defeating the Cincinnati Reds by a score of 4-2 at the movie site in Dyersville, Iowa. (ESPN)
