CHICAGO — Former Bears great Dan Hampton was sentenced to a year of probation after pleading guilty to drunken driving in Indiana.

Hampton was arrested in November for driving while intoxicated near his home in Windfield, Indiana. The NFL Hall of Famer's blood-alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit, according to charging documents.

Hampton pleaded guilty last month and was sentenced to probation and ordered to attend a court-ordered substance abuse program, according to reports.

“Mr. Hampton deeply regrets the decision that he made on that particular evening, but he’s accepted responsibility for his actions and he’s looking forward to successfully completing all the terms of his probation,” his lawyer Matt Fech told the Post-Tribune.

Hampton, a member of the 1985 Super Bowl champions, spent his entire career with the Bears after the overall No. 4 draft pick was selected in 1979. After retiring in 1990, Hampton has worked as a radio and television analyst. Hampton was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2002.
