Officer Hit By Drunken Driver On Near North Side, Injured: Police
Chicago police said the officer was getting out of his squad car when he was struck by a Toyota Camry at around 2:20 a.m. Wednesday.
CHICAGO — A Chicago police officer was taken to the hospital after he was struck by a drunken driver in a Toyota Camry early Wednesday morning, police said.
The officer was getting out of his squad car in the first block of East Erie Street when he was hit by the vehicle at around 2:20 a.m., according to a police report.
The driver of the Camry was taken into custody and the officer was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital with an injury to his leg. He is currently listed in good condition.
